Summary:
If your backup appears slow or stuck on your Mac, there are steps you can take to resolve the issue. Please review the sections below, with troubleshooting steps organized from most to least common.
Solution:
Your Backup Might Not Actually be Stuck
Carbonite’s status will not change when Carbonite is backing up a very large file, until it has completed backing it up. This can often happen with iPhoto, but can also happen with any other large file type. Check back in 24 hours for a status update.
Your Sleep Settings Might Need Adjustment
Carbonite is not able to back up files when your computer is asleep. Make sure your computer’s sleep settings are set to prevent the computer from sleeping. You can change these settings back once Carbonite has completed the backup. Once your sleep settings are set, check back in 24 hours for a status update.
Full Disk Access Could Be Restricting Access to Your Files
Full Disk Access is a security feature that restricts third-party apps from accessing your files. This will prevent Carbonite from being able to back them up. Please check that Full Disk Access is configured to allow Carbonite access to your files.
There May Be a Problem with the Carbonite Application That is Preventing Backup
If there is an issue with the application, the best step to take is to uninstall and then reinstall. This also ensures you have the latest version of the Carbonite application installed on your computer.
